Organizations that Promote Green Infrastructure for Stormwater Management are helping to expand greenspace. In the context of stormwater management, green infrastructure uses soils and vegetation to increase infiltration and reduce runoff, which is a cost-effective alternative to pipes, pumps, and “hard infrastructure.” In a broader context, green infrastructure is an interconnected greenspace network with multiple functions and benefits in addition to stormwater management. These agencies can provide information on rain gardens, low-impact development, sewer district plans for green infrastructure, and other initiatives that improve stream and water quality and expand greenspace.
